Here is one from our last day of the second Eagles Galore Workshop in Alaska. I can’t say enough about the advantages of a camera (Sony A9 mark III) that captures 120 images per second! The time it takes to go through the photos is well rewarded with perfectly timed images like this one—smile!
Coastal Brown Bear (Grizzly) Chasing Salmon in Alaska
A Coastal Brown Bear (Grizzly Bear) chasing a salmon during the salmon run in Katmai National Park, Alaska. This image was made on a dark and cloudy morning during my ULTIMATE BROWN BEARS of KATMAI SALMON FISHING WORKSHOP with my Sony Alpha 1 camera, Sony 600mm f/4 and the Sony 1.4X teleconverter. I held the camera slightly off the ground while using the rear screen as the viewfinder to get a low-perspective view. I chose 20,000 ISO, knowing that the Sony Alpha 1 has an incredibly capable sensor that can record the finest details at that “high” ISO if the image is exposed correctly.

Glaucous-winged Gulls
Glaucous-winged Gulls seem to be everywhere during my Eagles Galore Workshop near Homer, Alaska. Life as a seabird can be tough; once you find food, you have to eat it before another bird steals it. Not to worry, the bird with the fish ate it within the next two frames.
Bald Eagles Tandem Flight
Seeing Bald Eagles maneuver during their frequent pursuits is incredible; the speed and agility is simply mind blowing! I absolutely love the distraction of photographing them, particularly in bad weather :) This adult (5+ years with white head and tail) is trying to outmaneuver a juvenile (dark bill and eyes) that is likely it’s offspring.
